Since the foundation of C3S we participated every year in the most prominent event of the European space industry, namely the Space Tech Expo. This year the event along with our booth moved to the online space.
We are happy to announce that Gyula Horváth, C3S LLC CEO and Marco Mariani, SAB Launch Services Srl. CEO signed the agreement on the launch of C3S’s 3U CubeSat on a VEGA VV19 in spring of next year.
HERMES (High Energy Rapid Modular Ensemble of Satellites) Scientific Pathfinder (HERMES-SP) is a mission concept based on a constellation of nano-satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO), hosting new miniaturized detectors to probe the X-ray temporal emission of bright high-energy transients such as Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRB) and the electromagnetic counterparts of Gravitational Wave Events (GWE).
An agreement between gentlemen is usually sealed with a handshake, or at least a feast in Bruno. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the chance to do that due to the pandemic, but it doesn’t get in the way of the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two companies.
The Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade organized this event for the first time with the participation of local space researchers and players of the space industry with the aim of presenting ESA programs with Hungarian contribution.

Milánkovics Dorottya, Project Manager of CubeSat projects represented C3S at the panel discussion organized by MOMENTUS during the SaaS Workshop: How to Host your Payload in Space. In the course of the talk, they covered C3S’s shared payload concept with Dorottya mentioning several use cases of such solution. Sharing the payload bay means a cost effective, short-term, and schedulable option to those research, university or IOD project owners who – due to the mission’s character or the small size of the payload – don’t insist on being launched on a sperate platform to LEO.
Companies from our region are not likely to be featured on Techcrunch, however they couldn’t overlook the exciting news regarding the cooperation of two companies from such innovative sectors. We do think it’s exciting as well.
In the course of this project C3S aims to demonstrate its ability to design, build, and test a custom power supply compliant to customer requirements and the approach defined by the ECSS standards. The goal is to reach TRL 6 and thereby better enable the company to join the European space industry as a supplier.
